Hair, So Long
After three weeks of being home I finally went and got a hair cut. I managed to keep it just long enough that all my friends could see it and laugh, make hippy jokes and generally have fun at my expense.
Driving to the barber today, I found myself a bit nervous, waffling about the whole thing, wondering if I shouldn’t turn around and go home, keep the hair for another few months. For the...
Malled
My American phone worked while in Seoul, but as I found out early on, it was not without spending a small fortune. So, reserving it just for an emergency, I left it alone and the battery has been dead for about nine months. When I got home it still worked, but the battery only lasted for about 20 minutes after unplugging form the charger. Yesterday I went to get a new one and just as I thought...
Something I Didn't Miss
Getting hard looks from people. I got all kinds of looks from people while I was in Korea, but very few, if any of them, could be considered hard. To walk into a bar, restaurant or store and be stared at cause I looked different was far preferable to walking into some place and feeling like I have to nut up to some insecure ass wipe who is mean mugging the other patrons.

Home
MAde it back to my parents house about 1pm, Pacific Standard time. My flights both went pretty well, with the only fanfare coming at Incheon when immigration threatened to detain me cause Iet them know hoe retarded it was to make people pay 80,000 won for a lost ID card. If I didn’t have the money on me I suspect I’d still be in the airport. Been up for almost 24 hours now, but it...
Final Post From Korea
About three weeks into my stay here I made a post about how much I missed everyone at home. Adrian left a comment saying “if you’re not crying when you leave Korea, then you’ve done something wrong”. Well apparently I’ve done things right, cause the last couple days have seen their share of tears. Saturday was filled with them, along with hugs and promises for the...
Blame It On The Soju
For one year I wandered around Seoul in various stages of inebriation—largely alone—and without incident. Always made it home without having lost anything. But last night, while surrounded by nearly every friend I have in Korea, somehow I managed to lose my wallet. Not only that, but in grand Korean fashion, I ended up sleeping against the door of Mr. Kim’s restaurant, just...

Vacation
I’m leaving for Jeju island this morning (the Korean Hawaii, as they say) so I’ll be incommunicado for the next few days. I’ll do my best to post as much as I can when I get back.
